This design is based upon the artwork of the Morgan Dollar, a popular silver dollar from 1874 - 1904, then minted again in 1921 and used as currency at that time. It was named after George T. Morgan, the designer of the coin. The 'real' Morgan Dollars were made in 90% silver. This design is very popular and is .999 Fine Silver bullion quality - almost proof-like with a mirror polished background.
